Mountain Works Gallery is located high atop Monteagle Mountain, in the center of Monteagle, Tennessee. With 4-star restaurants and bed-and-breakfasts, waterfalls, miles of hiking trails, and hundreds of local artists and craftsmen, Monteagle is a jewel in the Cumberland Plateau, with a rich cultural blend of traditional Southern charm and modern conveniences. Indoor and outdoor theaters and music venues, world-class restaurants, art galleries and studios, shops ranging from quaint to chic, and fabulous architecture including High Victorian, Gothic Revival, and Art Deco are all within a few minutes' drive, not to mention the eight state parks that grace our lovely mountain.

Welcome to the virtual home of Mountain Works Gallery. We're so glad you stopped by for a visit. Mountain Works is an arts and crafts gallery which represents more than fifty artists and crafts-people from the Cumberland Plateau and the Southeast. We carry books and CD's by local authors and musicians. The selection is eclectic, and spans the range between outsider folkart, like Folk Artist Floyd's "rural burglar alarm" crosses, and more polished and traditional work, like the serenely quirky paintings of Cathy Ellis Connery. We also carry books and CD's by local authors and musicians.

Mountain Works opened in September of 2004, as the most recent addition to the family of Lake Galleries, based out of Tracy City, Tennessee since July 3, 1994. Many of the artists represented through the Lake Galleries are included in corporate, private, and museum collections around the world, including the White House Permanent Collection. The Lake Galleries include arts incubation in our mission statement and strive to to provide support to all of our artists. Over the years, this support has been manifested in various ways, from subsidizing room and board for struggling artists and providing advice on construction of equipment, artist statements and portfolios to helping our artists get placement in more highly visible galleries. Please see our about page for more information about us and our history.
